Michigan bike route: “One of best in Midwest” by Outside Magazine

Outside Magazine’s online Adventure Advisor conferred honors on the state today. It named the 20-mile “Tunnel of Trees” route along M-119, between Harbor Springs and Cross Village, as one of the three best bike routes in the Midwest.

I’ve ridden the route and it is beautiful, worthy of a day ride and a weekend riding in the area. It’s hilly, twisty, scenic and good fun.  I am not sure why the magazine would choose to illustrate the bike route with this beautiful photo of Little Traverse Bay, but Pure Michigan Travel gurus ought to be crowing.  Outside’s other Midwest picks  include: Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway in Minnesota and Covered Bridges Scenic Highway in Ohio.
